Registered Nurse-Mental Health-Pickens County CBOC

The staff nurse will work within the Mental Health Service Line at a VA outpatient clinic location. The RN will deliver safe nursing care according to the Scope and Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practice and demonstrate technical competence with strong problem-solving abilities in providing care to Veterans with basic or complex needs. This position may require detail to other VA clinic locations. Major Duties (include but not limited to):
A RN is needed for the following clinic
Responsibilities:
1. Provide same-day triage and facilitates LIP review/treatment for all unscheduled patients in the assigned team. 2. Manage urgent or emergent psychiatric situations by determining the level of risk and initiating effective care with other providers, consistent with clinic procedures. 3. Coordinate and manage Long-acting Injectable medication clinics; Administer prescribed medications; Perform EKG. 4. Provide care coordination services as needed. 5. Outreach patients for re-engagement in care, for medication compliance initiatives, and other measures as needed by the team. 6. Participate as a part of multidisciplinary treatment team and engages in teamwork as a team player and a team builder. 7. Conduct nursing assessments and document as required; Document clinical information in the medical record and abides by clinic protocols for conveying information to other health care providers. 8. Demonstrate a commitment to customer service and maintains a therapeutic and professional relationship with appropriate professional role boundaries. 9. Participate in quality improvement activities that may include collecting data to monitor quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, identifying avenues for improving clinic practice, or identifying organizational systems barriers to efficient and effective care. 10. Use effective clinical interview in skills in the development of a therapeutic relationship; Identify barriers to effective communication. 11. Use appropriate evidence-based assessment techniques, instruments, and tools in collecting pertinent data. 12. Provide health teachings in individual or group settings related to the Veteran's needs, and recovery goals (i.e. medication management, psychiatric issues, substance use disorders, medical disorders, treatment regimen, coping skills, self-care activities, relapse prevention, conflict management, problem-solving skills, stress management and relaxation techniques, and crisis management). Two year's experience in research or clinical settings Knowledge of current treatment for mental illness and the key symptoms of common psychiatric illness such as depression, GAD, PTSD, and Panic D/O knowledge of psychosocial assessment and clinical management of patients; prescribed for patients with depression, including patient responses and possible adverse reactions; ability to use the VA computer System CPRS, BHL, Excel, Skype, and VISTA-Based Clinical informatics. up to date ACLS/BLS certification required To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/23/2020. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
